Home Defense Strategy

A home is only as strong as its weakest point and the weakest point in your home is the last place you would think to defend.

Most of us consider the front door the place where an intruder will attack, but you couldn’t be more wrong. Crooks know that front doors are tough to break down in most cases, so they normally skip past them and go after an easier way to get into the house.

Most homes built in the last 50 years or so have back doors made out of the flimsiest aluminum frame and easy to break glass. This includes the patio doors a lot of us have to the back yard.

Most of the time 85% of patio doors are actually locked with small, under one inch hooks that are attached to the aluminum frame. Not very secure!

You don’t have to be a large sized person in order to rip those hooks right out of the frame. It can take as little as two to three minutes and they will have lifted the entire door out of its frame. It is really that easy.

One home defense tip is to add a simple steel drop-down security bar to your sliding glass door you can prevent any criminal from every jimmying your door open and you can even make your own with about $25 worth of materials that you can get from any hardware store.

A security bar will also keep our door from being forced open, but what about all that glass?

One flick of a criminal’s crowbar will shatter every inch of that patio door. But if you follow this simple tip you can stop that from happening to you.

In order to protect glass doors, especially patio doors, you can use a product such as 3M’s Ultra Prestige Safety Film. This film will turn your patio doors or even glass windows into unbreakable glass while remaining transparent.

A criminal can use all sorts of items to try and gain access but they will only crack the glass even when using a hammer which will leave the criminal scratching their heads in disbelief and moving onto an easier target someplace else.

For the most part criminals are lazy; they want the easy road. That is why they are criminals. All you need to do is just take a few simple steps to make your home a harder target to hit and they will move on to easier victims every time.

Now you can learn exactly how to secure your home and more tips and tricks to not only protect your home from being broken into, or even a home invasion. Given this information you will be able to find ways that can protect you and your entire family during any disaster or emergency.
